The Life Story Of A 1970 Chevy Chevelle (Part 14 of 42). August 13th, 1982 Odessa, Texas. Back in March of 1981, the beat up 1970 Chevy Chevelle SS that had been bashed up in a DUI related accident was purchased at the Ector County police impound auction for 150 bucks. Frank Ericson, an Odessa area mechanic purchased this car on that auction day with hopes of bringing it back to life by treating it as a little side project that he'd work on at his garage as a grad present for his son. Frank knew his way around Chevelles, and had connections with the local junkyard, so it was fairly cheap and easy to acquire parts for this car. Zoom forward to August of 1982, we can see that Frank has removed all the damaged components, and has now begun collecting the parts he'll need to slowly bring this car back to life. Being located just off of the Interstate 20 in Odessa, Frank kept himself busy with a constant flow of customers, which gave him very little extra time to work on the Chevelle. It began to collect dust, and finger written messages and doodles from bored employees began to collect on the Chevelle's neglected surfaces. Whatever happened though, Frank was still determined to get this car running by the time his son would graduate next year. Story to be continued...
