The Life Story Of A 1970 Chevy Chevelle (Part 12 of 42). December 31st, 1980 Odessa Texas. It's new years eve, and Austin Baker, the second owner of this 1970 Chevy Chevelle that he purchased in early 1979 was having a new years eve party with many of his friends. He was hosting it at his house with gallons of his home brewed moonshine added into the dangerous equation. It wasn't even midnight yet, and Austin was already tanked. With Austin's judgement now further impaired than usual, he decided it'd be a good idea to grab his keys, and go for a drunken joyride in the Chevelle that he had put so much time and money into since he had gotten it. He went careening into town with the steering wheel in one hand and a jug of moonshine in the other. He nearly collided with a half dozen cars along the way, until he finally plowed through the front door of a local convenience store knocking over anything and everything that got in his way until he wrapped the front of his car around a column inside the building moments later. The young clerk was blasting his Iron Maiden cassette in his Walkman, fantasizing about being in a band while playing air guitar completely unaware that Austin had crashed the Chevelle through the front of the store. As soon as he opened his eyes, he was stunned with what he saw and immediately called the police. As for Austin, he was admitted to the hospital that night to immediately tend to his major injuries, and was later jailed. The Chevelle was totaled and delivered to the impound lot for further police investigation. At this point, it's beginning to look sadly like the end for this car, but don't be fooled, this car still has a life ahead of it. Story to be continued...
