The Life Story Of A 1970 Chevy Chevelle (Part 40 of 42).  October 28th, 2008, Grand Lake Colorado.  Derrick Martin, The owner of this 1970 Chevy Chevelle was leafing through overwhelming amounts of legal documents and medical bills pertaining to his son's drunk driving car incident of last year.  The Lumina that the boys had been drunk driving in was obviously written off by insurance, however the angry parents of all the kids joyriding in the car, were filing multiple law suits against the Martin family for what had happened.  Derrick was in over his head as it was.  Dealing with the constant hassle of his son's medical expenses, and physical rehabilitation was putting the family into the red.  Since Thomas had been more or less paralyzed from the waist down by the wreck, Derrick also needed to purchase a wheelchair accessible van to accommodate Thomas' new disability.  The final nail in the coffin was that with the stock markets crashing, and the World economy falling apart day by day, Derrick had experienced significant budget cuts at work.  At this point, He had no choice but to declare personal bankruptcy, and make many lifestyle changes, including selling his 1970 Chevy Chevelle.  Regretfully, he posted an ad up for it online for the car in hopes that it'd find a new owner, but since the car had previously been sitting at the bottom of a lake and in addition to the current state of the economy, there were not many bites for the Chevelle.  Derrick didn't want to low ball it either, but he felt he almost had to.  Days turned to weeks, and weeks turned to months, and still there was very little interest in the Chevelle, and those who were interested couldn't afford it.  Suddenly, an Idea struck Derrick's mind.  The Barrett Jackson Auto Auction.  A place where car enthusiasts with deep pockets go head to head bidding on rare classic cars.  That seemed like the only option where he could get the best bang for his buck, so he decided to enroll his car for the January 2009 Barrett Jackson in Scottsdale, Arizona.  Story to be continued...  Anyway, All Fast Lane Illustration artwork by Ryan Sardachuk.  Click the link to join the official facebook page: www.facebook.com/FastLaneDesign, or visit the website at www.fastlaneillustration.com
