Description

The Life Story Of A 1970 Chevy Chevelle (Part 10 of 42) September 5th, 1978 Odessa, Texas. Lloyd and shirly spend the afternoon browsing their local GM dealer's car lot. It's been a little over 8 years since Lloyd first purchased his 1970 Chevy Chevelle SS in Cincinnati. Lloyd loved the car, and wished he could keep it, but as you can tell by its condition, the car was not faring well on the back roads of the oil fields in west Texas. Plus his career as a maintenance worker on Oil pump jacks was a job that was far more suitable for a pickup truck than a car like his Chevelle. His wife Shirley also was pregnant, but this time with twins so the car would become a little cramped. This sealed the deal, and confirmed Lloyd's difficult decision to trade in his beloved Chevelle, as well as the decision to purchase a second vehicle for his wife. Lloyd had his eye on a brand new Chevy C10 Pickup truck which was far more ideal for work, while his wife had her eyes on a brand new Chevy Caprice Station Wagon which was far more ideal for their growing family. The condition of the chevelle when Lloyd traded it in had a lot to be desired, but the dealership still accepted it, and would sell it on their second hand car lot. The papers were signed, and Lloyd and Shirley left the dealer that day with their brand new vehicles, while the Chevelle awaited patiently on the lot for its next owner. As Lloyd was driving home he had a small feeling of remorse, and knew that this was probably the last time he'd ever see his Chevelle again... or was it? Story to be continued... Nice to see that Lloyd got it back, over 30 years after he sold it, and after hauling dead bodies, getting wrecked, getting vandalized and rusting badly, getting subjected to abuse by white trash, getting impounded with a starring role in an early episode of COPS, barely surviving Hurricane Andrew, getting driven cross-country in barely running condition (likely with black mold and electrical problems as well), rusting even worse, getting stolen, dumped in a lake, necromancy at the hands of a former LS6 Chevelle owner, going on the big screen, then Barrett-Jackson and as such its third time on TV/film

Honestly the Chevelle had gone through almost as much as a '74 Chevy G10 period mild custom that I'm trying to wrestle out of the ownership of a dying 90-year-old woman and her alcoholic hoarder kids.
